League officials unveiled an upgraded pylon camera Tuesday that, in addition to capturing the goal line, can now detect when a player is lying about having broken the plane.
“If a running back gets up signaling touchdown while knowing full well he was down at the half-yard line, the pylon will flash red,” said a league spokesperson. “It also sends a short, disappointed text to his mother.”
In early testing, the camera flagged 97 percent of touchdown celebrations as “technically dishonest.”
